As you all know that we are in the age where most of the things are been done with computer, so as:
West African Examinations Council, WAEC perfecting plans to migrate into the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for its examinations.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is considering migrating to the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode of examinations for it examinations, the Registrar disclosed in Lagos.
The Registrar of council, Dr Iyi Uwadiae, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
According to him, the council is considering all variables available to ensure that the entire process is not messed up.
He, however, noted that the council was not in a hurry to migrate because the council basically conducts achievement tests and not selection tests.
“We have looked at the issue of CBT and found that this is not a selection test, where one can deal with paper and pencil.
“With that, you can easily migrate to CBT, but for an achievement test where you train people to become engineers, medical doctors and others, there will be need for practical experience.
“So, they do not just train them practically in the class, they equally need to be tested on theory.
“Again this background, therefore, we are collaborating with other examination bodies and experts outside Nigeria to ensure that when we start, we will not mess up the entire process.
“And what is expected of the candidates can still be achieved,’’ he said.
Uwadiae noted that the council was being cautious in getting it done because there were many things involved.
“We are not in a hurry to move in there but with time, we are going to migrate into it and start with the objective tests.
“We have to still do the practical aspect because we want to be sure that all schools are on the same level.
“They must be on the same level in terms of learning and all other aspects so that we can be able to have confidence on the reliability of the continuous assessment and practicals, which their teachers will give us.
“For now, we cannot say what we get from these teachers are reliable as we insist on continuous assessment.
“We need to go to these schools and match them against any standard tests,’’ the registrar said.
On the persistent poor performance of candidates, Uwadiae said the issue was not peculiar to Nigeria alone.
He noted that effective teaching and learning were no longer taking place in schools, coupled with the issue of dearth of infrastructure.
According to him, students seldom stay in the classrooms; they spend more time on the internet and do not read and all that.
He explained that such students were not expected to perform miracles during examinations.
“We compare our standards with that of other examination bodies in Nigeria and internationally and so we cannot lower our standards.
“Our examinations are taken by candidates of five different countries and it is the same examination.
“We have our own internal mechanism, as well as a very functional research outfit.
“For every examination, we do a research to find out why candidates perform poorly and if after this, we still have some doubts, we do what is called post item analysis.
“Invariably we find out that our items are not bad.
“The teachers are the ones who set the questions, moderate and mark them; we only collate and release results as adjudged by the experts,’’ the council boss added. (NAN)

Read This Education Stories!!
Pounding on to know what education will realy be in the watchward this 2016, we met with Claudio Sanchez:
Claudio Sanchez is the senior member of the NPR Ed team, with more than 25 years on the education beat. We asked him for his list of the top stories he'll be watching in 2016.
1. The New Federal Education Law
The long, grueling fight to overhaul the 14-year-old No Child Left Behind law is over, but that'll turn out to be the easy part. The new Every Student Succeeds Act returns most government oversight of schools back to states. But there are no guarantees that the states will do a better job than the federal government in two key areas: closing the achievement gap and raising the performance of the absolute worst schools.
There will be some relief for students burdened by excessive testing. But for the most part states will continue to rely on test scores, using them to punish schools rather than for improving curriculum and instruction. Reading and math scores will drop for all kids on the new, tougher standardized tests linked to the Common Core. But the dismal performance of groups that struggle will trigger more scrutiny from civil rights groups in 2016. We'll also see those groups pressure states to deal with teacher quality and funding.
2. Moving On From Common Core
The controversy over the much-maligned Common Core State Standards will diminish. States will continue their efforts to re-brand or rename the standards, while for the most part following them. Despite the political controversy, the push for high academic standards will continue, and we'll see little of the "race to the bottom" that happened under NCLB.
3. Charter Schools Under A Microscope
The charter school movement will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2016. With 6,700 schools and nearly 3million students across 43 states and the District of Columbia, charters are a powerful force. The federal government has poured billions of dollars into charters, and polling shows that a majority of Americans support them. But you can expect these publicly funded, privately run schools to face new scrutiny, and new criticism.
We'll see more scandals involving fraud, corruption and mismanagement, despite efforts to weed out "bad actors" who've exploited weak charter laws in several states. As Joe Nathan, a senior fellow at the Center for School Change, who helped write charter school legislation in 32 states, puts it: "We have not done enough to deal with the crooks and charlatans, of which we have our share."
Charters will also be one of the very few education issues to get any attention in the presidential campaign.
4. Dreamers Dreams Deferred
There will be an even stronger backlash against the push for greater access to college for undocumented students. Dreamers — students brought to the U.S. illegally as children — will face greater opposition because of the stalemate over immigration reform. The angry, anti-immigrant rhetoric from Republicans running for president will also shape this debate. Look for state lawmakers to consider even tougher measures to deny dreamers any benefits and push them deeper into a legal and educational limbo.
5. Goodbye Race-Conscious Admissions
Watch for the U.S. Supreme Court to ban race in college admissions, forcing institutions to abandon affirmative action policies. Schools will have to rethink how they recruit and enroll students in efforts to increase diversity. This will fuel an already tense situation on many campuses. Expect minority student protests and campus unrest to intensify.
6. Student Debt Takes Center Stage
Higher education leaders, or what presidential candidate Senator Marco Rubio calls "the higher-ed cartel," effectively killed the Obama administration's attempt to create a more transparent, consumer-friendly way for students and parents to rate colleges. But with many of the presidential candidates calling for tuition-free or debt-free college, we'll see these institutions undertake a more serious discussion about changing their pricing policies — largely out of fear that lawmakers in Washington will step in and do it for them.

Ways To Have A Healthier Marriage!!!
Experts agree: A healthy marriage increases longevity and boosts both physical and emotional health. And the health benefits of marriage don’t discriminate — this seems to be true for both men and women, for long marriages, new marriages, and gay marriages.
"A wealth of studies has been done that shows mental and physical benefits of a healthy marriage no matter what your sex, age, or race,” says Deirdre Lee Fitzgerald, PhD, assistant professor of psychology at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic. “These benefits include longevity, well-being, and cardiovascular fitness."
Decades of research show that people in a stable, healthy marriage live longer and enjoy better health than people who are divorced, widowed, separated, or never married. Specific benefits include:
A decrease in the rate of premature deaths
Less domestic violence
Less depression
Less substance abuse
Better heart health
Better ability to heal wounds
Who Benefits the Most From a Healthy Marriage?
"Although the benefits are across the board, they are not the same for everyone. Some people benefit more than others," explains Fitzgerald. Here is what the research shows:
Men benefit more than women. "Although both men and women benefit from marriage, the effect is greater for men," says Fitzgerald. "Men even benefit when they don't perceive their marriage as being very high in quality. For women, quality is more important and the benefits drop away as quality decreases." Health benefits of marriage start right away for men, but take longer to develop in women and increase over the duration of the marriage.
Marriage benefits accrue to all ethnic groups. The benefits of a healthy marriage are not restricted to any racial group. African Americans and other ethnic groups show the same health benefits as white couples. "Men still have an advantage though," says Fitzgerald. In fact, "white men have more benefits than men from other ethnic groups. Studies also show that minority married couples derive health benefits from sharing resources."
Young married couples take fewer health risks. "People in a healthy marriage between the ages of 20 and 45 significantly reduce their risk of early death from risky behaviors such as substance abuse and reckless driving. This is particularly true for men, but also for women," notes Fitzgerald. Studies show that young married couples are less likely to participate in unprotected sex and poor nutrition habits, and they experience less depression.
Older married couples stay healthy. Studies show that elderly couples in healthy marriages are generally healthier than their peers who are widowed, divorced, or never married. For example, widowed adults over age 65 are three times more likely to report being disabled than their married peers. "Elderly single women seem to cope better than men," says Fitzgerald. Gay marriage improves health, too. "The same emotional and physical health benefits that are observed for heterosexual couples in a healthy marriage seem to hold up for gay couples in a healthy marriage," notes Fitzgerald.
A Bad Marriage Can Wreak Havoc
The opposite also holds true: As a healthy marriage can keep you that way, a bad marriage can make you sick.
“Effects of a bad marriage include high blood pressure, heart disease, and increased rates of cancer, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. Although both men and women suffer from a bad marriage, the effects tend to be harder on women," says Fitzgerald.
Consider these facts:
Ninety percent of 48-year-old married men will live to reach age 65, but only 65 percent of divorced 48-year-old men will live that long.
U.S. Department of Justice statistics show that a healthy marriage is relatively safe from domestic violence. One of the most dangerous times for a woman is during separation or divorce from an abusive marriage. A bad marriage creates a highly stressful environment, which increases the likelihood of divorce. Research shows that divorce is associated with an increased risk of physical illness, depression, and premature death. How to Make Your Marriage a Healthy Marriage
Here are Fitzgerald’s tips for a healthy marriage:
Share your values. They don't need to be the same, but they need to be known and respected. Listen to each other with care and compassion. Accept each other's positions on the issues on which you disagree and work toward a compromise that you both can live with.
Allow your marriage partner to grow and mature. Make choices that bring you closer together. Fitzgerald also recommends two books for maintaining a healthy marriage: ACT With Love, by Russ Harris, MD, and The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, by John Gottman, PhD.
"Do healthier people tend to make healthier marriages, or do marriages make people healthier? It is probably a combination of both, but we can say that being in a healthy marriage is good for your physical and emotional health," says Fitzgerald.

No going Back for 13 Sacked VCs – Minister!!!
The federal government has said that it would not rescind its decision over sack of 13 vice chancellors of Nigerian universities which were established by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, disclosed this yesterday when he flagged off the 2015-2016 annual school census in Abuja.
He queried, “Do you reverse government decision simply because somebody has criticised them? I don’t think that it is all government decisions that go down well with everyone in the country.”
A coalition of Civil Society Groups had on Wednesday, protested the VCs sack, insisting that their sack and subsequent replacement with people mostly from the North violated the federal character principles.
The minister said the ministry had already received some complains from aggrieved Nigerians over the sack, adding that the complains are currently being looked into.
He said, “The ministry has received some representation from people who feel aggrieved because their tenure has not expired and we are looking at it”.
When asked specifically on the expected court cases that would arise from their sack, he simply said, “They have already written to us and we are looking at their complaints and we will reply in due course”. Meanwhile, the federal government said it has rolled out a strategic plan for the recruitment of 500,000 teachers pledged by President Muhammadu Buhari at the 2016 budget presentation to the National Assembly.
Adamu said government would first recruit graduates with education background from the universities as well as National Certificate in Education (NCE) holders before considering those from other disciplines.
Although the recruitment was yet to take off, he said the ministry was still fine-tuning the process to make sure things does not go awry.
He explained that the annual basic secondary schools’ census is a policy, which is aimed at the collection, collation of education data to hone education planning for better administration and an informed education system.
Highlighting the importance of the census, Adamu said, “You need data in other to effect planning.
Police Disperse Protesting Students With Tear Gas
The Nigerian Police yesterday dispersed members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) who were protesting the sack of 13 vice chancellors.
The protesters, who were dispersed by a team of policemen around the Federal Secretariat, Abuja said they were angered that the minister for education, Malam Adamu Adamu was interfering unnecesarily in universities’ affairs.
According to the association, the minister also erred in the appointment of new vice chancellors.
Leader of the protesters, Mr Shehu said: “On February 12, 2016, the Federal Government, without due recourse to the governing councils of 12 Federal Universities and the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), removed their vice-chancellors without any clear statement as to what their offences might have been.
“What is the reason for the sacking of the four vice-chancellors of Federal Universities and that of NOUN before the expiration of their tenures?
“We request that the Federal Government, should in the interest of due process, reverse its decision and reinstate the illegally sacked vice-chancellors.”
The NANS president accused the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of complicity in the sack of the VCs.
However, trouble started when the students smashed the windscreen of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) with registration number FG 23 A31, belonging the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs as it drove by.
All efforts by the policemen to ensure that the protesting students retreated were resisted. This eventually resulted in the firing of tear gas at them by the police.
Journalists and bystanders scampered for safety while the policemen made arrests.

EXERCISE: The best time for it!!!
What’s the best time of day to exercise?
A: The best time of day to exercise is the time that works best for you. Studies go back and forth on this topic and there are benefits in exercising in the morning and later in the day. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and lifestyle. Choose a time that helps you make exercise a regular and consistent part of your routine. Here’s why:
It’s all about finding your rhythm.
Ever wonder why some of us are morning people while others are not? This has quite a bit to do with your body’s internal clock, or your circadian rhythms. Circadian rhythms are a daily cycle of sleep and wake cycles. It’s this cycle that regulates physical, mental, and behavioral changes within a 24-hour period. Body temperature, blood pressure, and metabolism are some of the physiological processes that can be affected by your body’s internal clock. These rhythms respond to changes in the environment and can be set and reset. The changes in the environment that can have an effect on circadian rhythms include lightness and darkness, temperatures within the environment, artificial light, the use of an alarm clock to wake, timing of meals, and time of day you exercise. Your personal clock can affect what time of day you prefer to exercise. So, are you a morning person or a night owl?
If you’re a morning person…
It’s a no brainer: You should workout in the AM.
Research suggests that those who exercise in the morning tend to be more consistent with their exercise routine. The idea is you’ll get your workout in before any other events or distractions of the day interfere, thus setting yourself up for success. People who exercise earlier in the day generally find they can manage their time better and they feel more energized throughout the day. If you do exercise in the morning, make sure to give yourself a little extra warm-up time to get your body temperature elevated and your muscles warm. Some people have trouble exercising in the morning because of dizziness, fatigue, or lightheadedness experienced when working out on an empty stomach. If that happens to you, try having a small snack, such as a banana or a serving of low-fat yogurt, prior to exercise.
If you’re a night owl…
Afternoon or evening exercise can be the perfect way to unwind. Some people find that afternoon or evening workouts are more productive and help relieve some of the stresses of the day. For others, exercise in the morning doesn’t feel good because, when you wake up, your muscles may feel tight and your blood sugars may be low. Afternoon or evening workouts may just seem that much better because you are more alert, your body temperature is naturally elevated, and your muscles are warm and flexible. You also have the added benefit of having had the opportunity to get some food in your system which can help you feel more energized during your workout.
Whether you exercise for weight loss, stress relief, or one of the many other health benefits, it is important to be consistent. Schedule that time for exercise based on what works best for you — morning, noon, or afternoon. Your body’s internal clock will reset itself and your sleep habits and changes to meal times will either fall into place or can be adjusted based on when you decide to work up a sweat!

8. Read and Understand Your Resource Usage
Top 10 Computer Tricks Every Geek Should Know
When your computer starts acting a little slow, a lot of people jump to their resource monitor to see what’s causing problems. However, just looking at a bunch of charts and graphs isn’t going to tell you what’s wrong unless you really know what you’re looking for. High CPU is a common problem with one app slowing your system down, and as soon as you close it, the issue should go away. High network activity could be the cause of slow internet or slow file transfers over the network. RAM usage, however, is where a lot of people get thrown off: high RAM usage isn’t inherently a bad thing. Know the difference between good and bad RAM usage before you start blaming processes. If you want to keep an eye on your resources, check out our favorite system monitors for Windows, Mac, and Linux, too.

MAKE WATER TASTE BETTER!!!!
Not everybody has a taste for water, but we all need it to ensure that our bodies continue functioning properly. If you want to drink more water, but aren't crazy about the taste (or lack thereof), here are some tips that can make it more enjoyable:
1. Add fresh fruit: Citrus fruits, such as lemons, limes, and oranges, are classic water enhancers, but other fruit flavors might also tempt your taste buds. Try crushing fresh raspberries or watermelon into your water, or adding strawberry slices. Cucumber and fresh mint are refreshing flavors as well — especially in summer.
2. Use juice: Any fruit juice can be a good base flavor for water, but tart juices, like cranberry, pomegranate, grape, and apple, are especially delicious. Go for juices that are all natural, with no added sugars. And remember: Fruits and their juices don't just taste good — they contain vitamins and antioxidants that can benefit your health too.
3. Make it bubbly: Many people prefer sparkling to still water. If plain old water isn't inspiring to you, try a naturally effervescent mineral water — which will give you the added benefit of minerals. Or try bubbly seltzer, a carbonated water. You can add fresh fruit or natural juice flavors to your seltzer, as suggested above, or look for naturally flavored seltzers at your local market. If you become a seltzer devotee, you might want to consider getting a seltzer maker for your home.
4. Get creative with ice: Some say that ice water tastes better than water served at room temperature. If that's so, flavored ice cubes may make an even better drink. Use some of the flavoring suggestions above and start experimenting with fresh fruit, mint, or cucumber ice cubes. Simply chop your additive of choice, add it to your ice cube tray along with water, then freeze. You may also consider juice, tea, or coffee cubes. If you want to be more creative, use ice cube trays that come in fun shapes, like stars, circles, or even fish.
5. Drink tea: Herbal, fruit, green, white, and red teas are generally considered to be better for you than black teas (or coffee, for that matter) because they contain little to no caffeine. And there are countless flavors of these teas to choose from. Start with the selection at your local market or health food store. If you're interested in pursuing more exotic flavors and sophisticated teas, start researching the vast array of specialty teas that come from all parts of the globe.
6. Try bouillons, broths, and consommés: If your palate leans toward the savory, you may pass on tea and start sipping one of these hot and savory liquids instead. Choose low-fat and low-sodium versions for maximum health benefits. Because soup is water-based, a cup of hot soup will count toward your daily fluid consumption.
7. Add fast flavor: If you're looking for a quick-and-easy flavor booster, you might also consider sugar-free drink mixes, and flavor cartridges that can be used with your faucet filter system.

BE MY VAL., STORIES ABOUT VALENTINE CONTD.,!!
I know vividly well that this message is not late yet... So to read more of the last post click Here.
During the trial, they asked Valentine what he thought of the Roman gods Jupiter and Mercury. Of course Valentine said they were false gods and at the God that Jesus called the Father was the only true God. So the Romans threw him in prison for insulting the gods.
While in prison Valentine continued to minister. He witnessed to the guards. One of the guards was a good man who had adopted a blind girl. He asked Valentine if his God could help his daughter. Valentine prayed and the girl was given her sight. The guardand his whole family, 46 people, belived in Jesus and were baptized. Because these people had come to know Jesus, Valentine praised God rihht there in his prison cell. When the emperor heard about this he was furious that Valentine was still making converts even in prison, so he had Valentine beheaded.
Valentine knew that he might get caught in his Christian activities. He knew that if he told the court the truth about the Roman gods that he would be thrown in prison. And he knew that if he continued to witness to Christ in prison, he would be make his captors angry. But he continued, because he loved the Lord and his fellow humans. He was willing to risk his life to free the prisoners and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to those who neededto hear it.
The Bible says: "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends." (John 15:13). God showed us this love by coming in christ to die for our sins. And St. Valentine demonstrated this love when he died for his friends. This is the kind of love that Valentine's Day is realy about.
During the trial, they asked Valentine what he thought of the Roman gods Jupiter and Mercury. Of course Valentine said they were false gods and at the God that Jesus called the Father was the only true God. So the Romans threw him in prison for insulting the gods.

BE MY VAL., STORY ABOUT VALENTINE!!!
"When i surveyed the wonderous Cross"
'Be my Valentine.' This is a phrase that conjurrs up a lot of different images associated with the celebration of Valentine's day. Cards with hearts and little poems on thrm; Candy and flowers given to someone you love; and images of cupids flying around shooting their arrows of love into unsuspecting youths.
Young and old alike expressing their affection for their sweethearts. February 14th for many means cards, candy, flowers and cupids.
Our mothers and Fathers in the Christian Faith would be surprised at what has become of Valentine's Day. What we call Valentines Day was at one time the feast of St. Valentine. It was a religious holiday. They would be especially shocked at the use of cupid since he was a character from pagan mythology. For Christians in the past, this holiday was a day of remembrance and celebrate the life and deathof a christian martyr.
According to Church Tradition, St. Valentine was a priest near Rome in about the year 270 A.D. At that time the Roman Emperor was imprisoning Christians for not worshipping the Roman gods. During this persecution, Valentine was arrested because he was performing Christian marriages, but others say it was for helping Christians escape prison.

LEDAP sues JAMB, NUC, wants post UTME scrapped!!!
THE Legal Defence and Assistance Project (LEDAP) has filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja seeking for an order declaring the post- Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) tests conducted by universities, polytechnics and colleges before admitting students illegal and should be abolished.
In the suit, which was filed against Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) and National Universities Commission (NUC), the group claimed that there is no law authorizing them to subject candidates to a second screening or test after the examination by JAMB.
The group also claimed that the post-UTME tests have become a source of boldface corruption in the universities, polytechnics and Colleges, adding that lecturers and admission officials charge candidates huge sums of money using the post-UTME as smoke screen.
In the suit filed by Mr. Chino Edmund Obiagwu, lead counsel for LEDAP, the group seeks a declaration that only the 1st Defendant (JAMB) has the statutory powers to conduct matriculation examinations for admission into all Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria.
He also wants declaration that the imposition and conduct of post-UTME by Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria for candidates seeking admission into their institutions is illegal and unlawful.
“A declaration that the 2nd and 3rd Defendants (NUC and Federal Ministry of Education) have no powers howsoever to allow or direct Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria to further screen or conduct admission tests in violation of Joint Matriculation Board, Act,” as well as an order of perpetual injunction restraining all Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria from further imposition or conduct of Post-UTME or any other form of admission screening test in Nigeria.
According to the plaintiff, the grounds upon which the reliefs are sought are that the 1st defendant is the only statutory body with powers to exercise general control of the conduct of matriculation examinations leading to admissions into all Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria.
The plaintiff said: “The matriculation examination conducted by the 1st defendant is the only test required by law under section 5(1) and (2) of the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board Act, for admission of candidates into all Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria.”
The plaintiff stated that the 2nd defendant directed all Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria to further screen and conduct examination for candidates recommended to them for admission by the 1st defendant contrary to the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) Act.
According to LEDAP, since 2005 all universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria have been conducting admission tests or screening for candidates seeking admission into their institutions in violation of section 5 (1) and (2) of the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board Act.
